This webinar, hosted by the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium at the Public Health Law Center, is designed to give members of the tobacco control and public health community a short refresher on how laws in general – and tobacco control laws in particular – are passed at the federal, state, and local levels. Although the webinar will use examples from tobacco control, the session will be of interest to all in the public health world. Presenters will describe the different roles of local, state, and federal governing bodies and how these bodies pass laws; offer guidelines on how to draft solid tobacco control policies using the best practices in the field; and provide insight on how advocates can use this information in their daily work.
