According to the World Health Organization, the tobacco industry is hampering efforts to introduce life-saving interventions in low and middle-income countries.

Although numerous countries have created measures such as, advertising, higher taxes on tobacco products, smoke free zones, etc., to encourage people to stop smoking, tobacco still kills nearly 7 million people a year.

Tobacco companies are open to reasonable regulation however, they are also largely seeking less regulated markets.
