Tobacco use is still a major public health problem in the US. It is also a major cause of premature death for person’s with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. While behavioral health programs that are integrating primary care can provide comprehensive services to clients with mental health and substance use disorders, they struggle with the implementation of tobacco cessation services, especially medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services for tobacco use. This Innovation Community will focus on helping behavioral health providers who are integrating primary care services establish effective tobacco cessation services, including the use of MAT for tobacco cessation.
