Although smoking cessations show progress and have save lives, there are still millions of people who are dying due to tobacco related problems.  “The CDC predicts that if smoking continues at the current rate among U.S. youths, 1 in every 13 who are 17 or younger now will die prematurely from a smoking-related illness.”

According to one of the National Council Network’s partners,  Smoking Cessation Leadership Center, Dr. Steven Schroeder states of those who are of the smoking population, 70% want to quit.  Aside from using marketing tools and pursuing policy changes, a recent focus is also inclusive of those with mental disorders and substance abuse problems “who consume 40 percent of all cigarettes sold in the U.S.”
