Motivational Interviewing to Enhance Youth Tobacco Cessation

Motivational interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based approach to behavior change that can maximize client engagement, enhance treatment outcomes and support people around behavior change. Providers can use these skills as a complement to their tobacco cessation treatment services for youth.

Join the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco and Cancer Control, at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, on November 7th from 12 pm – 1 pm ET to explore how motivational interviewing can increase motivation to quit and enhance tobacco cessation in youth experiencing a mental health and/or substance use challenge.

By joining this webinar, participants will be able to: •

  • Increase understanding of the core components of MI.
  • Understand how MI can enhance behavior change in youth.
  • Practice MI strategies to address youth nicotine dependence and cessation.

The webinar will feature the following speaker:

  • Pam Pietruszewski, MA, Senior Advisor, National Council for Mental Wellbeing
